IP Accelerator FAQ

How can we help?
Is Amazon IP Accelerator available globally?
The programme is available to brands worldwide. Law firms currently in IP Accelerator are based in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, India, Brazil, Singapore, and Japan, and focus on filing trademark applications in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), Marcas Instituto Mexicano de Propiedad Industrial (IMPI), UK Intellectual Property Office (UK IPO), European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), Japan Patent Office (JPO), Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, (IPoS), IP Australia (IPA), and Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI-BR). They can serve clients in several languages including English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Hindi, Gujarati, Italian and Portuguese. We look forward to expanding IP Accelerator to law firms and trademark offices in other countries.
Do I have to pay Amazon to use Amazon IP Accelerator?
No. IP Accelerator is a free programme. Amazon does not charge a fee to connect you with law firms. When you select a firm, you work with and pay the law firm directly.
What Brand Registry benefits will I be able to access?
If you file a trademark application via an IP Accelerator law firm, you will be able to enrol in Brand Registry and have access to the following benefits:
  • Proactive brand protections: Amazon will use information that you provide about your brand to implement protections that attempt to proactively identify and remove potentially bad listings that could harm your brand and our customers.
  • Powerful search and report tools: You will have access to the Report a Violation tool that provides text- and image-based searching capabilities and simplifies the process of reporting potential infringement (e.g. common law trademark infringement) with multiple features designed specifically for brands.
  • Other brand-building benefits: You will be able to further build and grow your business on Amazon by taking advantage of powerful tools designed for brands such as Enhanced Brand Content product detail pages, Brand Stores, Sponsored Brands and the Brand Dashboard.
Can I use IP Accelerator for services that are not trademark-related?
Yes. You may also independently engage law firms participating in IP Accelerator for other IP-related services such as filing design patent applications, copyright applications or developing holistic brand protection strategies. The services and fees for these services are to be determined between you and the law firm and fall outside the scope of the Programme.
What happens if my trademark application filed via IP Accelerator is denied?
We regularly monitor the status of trademark applications filed via IP Accelerator. If your application is denied, then you will no longer have access to the brand protection features for that trademark application.
What do I need to do to receive brand protections once my law firm files my trademark application?
Once Amazon becomes aware that you have filed a trademark application via an IP Accelerator law firm, we will then email you an invitation to enrol in Brand Registry. Once you complete that enrolment, we will automatically enrol you in our automated brand protections and provide you with access to the Report a Violation tool, and you will receive access to other brand-building features.
What do I do if my law firm submitted a trademark application, but I haven’t been invited to enrol?
You are no longer required to be invited to enrol in Brand Registry. After your law firm has confirmed that they provided your trademark application serial number to Amazon and 14 days have passed, click here to enrol.
Do I need to be a seller on Amazon or sell to Amazon Retail in order to use IP Accelerator?
No. The most direct way to use IP Accelerator is via the IP Accelerator page under the Service Provider Network found in Seller Central. To access Seller Central, you will need a Seller Central account, which you can create here. However, if you don’t have an Amazon Seller Central account and would like to work with an IP Accelerator law firm, please contact us here.
